When should you start your pre-conception plan?
It is recommended to start your preconception care plan 4 months before trying to conceive.
Sperm can take up 3 months to develop and mature. During this time sperm are susceptible to damage from toxins such as drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, nutritional deficiencies and illness. So the health of today’s sperm and egg is indicative of the health of the male over the last 3 months.
A woman is born with all of her eggs, however the maturation of the egg can takes 3-4 months before ovulation. During this period the egg is similarly vulnerable to damage.
